Dental Assisting Degree Programs
Dental assistants work with dentists
in all aspects of managing and operating a dental practice. They often manage the
administrative duties as well as assist the dentist directly in dentistry. A dental
assistant's job may include performing x-ray procedures or simply making nervous
patients comfortable. Dental assisting isn't to be confused with dental hygiene,
which is its own professional entity.
Previously, dental assistants were trained in the workplace but increasingly junior
colleges and vocational schools have been offering two-year programs in dental assisting.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, dental assisting is expected to grow
above the average of all professions.
