Massage Therapy Programs
Massage is the hand manipulation
of skin, muscles, and joints to relax muscle spasm, relieve tension, improve circulation
and hasten elimination of bodily wastes.
Widely considered an antidote to stress and muscle tension, massage also helps rub
away fatigue. Various forms of massage include: acupressure, athletic massage, polarity
massage, reflexology, rolfing, shiatsu, sports massage, and Swedish massage.
Over the years, massage has increasingly been used in physical therapy programs and
become an integral part of recovery medicine in general. More and more hospitals
and disease centers have massage therapists on staff for the treatment of patients.
