Phlebotomy Degree Programs
The role of a phlebotomist mainly
involves drawing patient's blood in inpatient and outpatient settings and processing
specimens for analysis by doctors or medical technologists. This requires the ability
to operate mechanical and computerized equipment and also to perform clerical duties
to keep accurate records. These are the skills that you'll learn in a phlebotomy
program. Accuracy and specimen integrity are very important and you'll learn how
to achieve this in the classroom. There is no substitute for experience, however,
so your program in phlebotomy will most likely include an internship in a clinical
laboratory or other health care facility to provide the complete range of skills
required.
